About

Background

I’m a lawyer in corporate law, based in Brazil, with a particular feel for the relation between law and technology. That’s still my day job. A few hours a week, though, I’m building toward a career designing games — specifically, the systems and mechanics that make combat, abilities, and encounters feel good to play. This site is where I publish that work.

What I’m building toward

The long-term goal is a gameplay design role at a large studio. Blizzard is my north star. Realistically, that starts closer to home. Brazil has a real game industry, and that’s where I expect to land first, with relocation on the table later once there’s a track record to back it up. What matters most is being part of large-scale projects that bring real fun to the people who play them.

Current focus

Right now I’m doing three things in parallel. I’m learning to program in the new reality of AI, working through the foundational design texts (Schell, Swink, Koster), and writing biweekly design analysis. That last one currently means digging into WoW Forever’s beta as a live case study rather than just playing it. A first real portfolio piece (an original ability kit or combat encounter) is next.
